Each sunday of the month, a new single
Brazilian multi-instrumentalist and composer born in Euclide Da Cunha, a small town in Bahia, Brazil, Toninho Almeida has been passionate about artistic expression since he was a child.
When he was 17, he arrived in Rio and was struck by the urban cultural turbulence. He then revealed himself as an impulsive poet, an acting apprentice, and a prolific self-taught guitarist!
Then came São Paulo where the decadence of the dictatorship announced the cultural effervescence, freedom and the awakening of consciences. He published a collection of poems, and then scoured the poetry, theater and music scenes with his compositions. He will make among others first parts of Gilberto Gil.
He confirmed his vocation as a musician with a rigorous study of music and later became a teacher at the academy of contemporary music in Bahia.
He flew to France in 1990, Paris then Lille. Several tours in Europe followed, resulting in the recording of two albums: Violeta 41, Mitade and a Remix.
Five years passed during which Toninho chose to plunge back into his culture, resulting in the album Deu Forró No Samba. A long tour with about fifty concerts in France, Europe and Brazil followed.
His latest album, Intact, released in May 2017... brings together compositions from his Brazilian period, his arrival in Europe, his Parisian life and finally his collaboration with musicians met in Europe over the last 20 years.
The Album Desligado, is scheduled for release on June 20, 2021.
In July 2018 Toninho introspected and tried to translate the current world. This time, the artist gives himself up to us, only with his voice and guitar to offer us calm, in a purified and transient musical style. The album Desligado, scheduled for release on June 20, 2021, takes us far from the daily routine to the sound of Bossa Nova. Alone with his voice and his guitar, he navigates between words and dissonances. Neither against nor for, he takes a deviation, a third way, another path.
